BITTER sweet...

Well we got our reduction from the Canadian Revenue Agency not what we had anticipated based on my spreadsheets at the low end $4500, the high end just over $6000. What did they reduce it by???

$3818.47

I want to cry so badly but I'm sitting at my desk at work. I feel so overwhelmed our balance is still just shy of $7000.00 I don't know what to do anymore. I spent the last hour semi-fighting with the CRA guy on the phone. They have reversed penalties and interest for 2001-2006 correctly but when I look at our statement of account there is an arrears intereste charge of $2189.17 that he can't see and keeps telling me was reversed -- well it wasn't and of course there are no reference to when it's from or for or anything. He kept pointing out how much came off the account in March-- HELLO, WE PAID IT DOWN- NOT YOU GIVING US DEDUCTIONS.

He suggested requesting a statement which will take at least a month. I have been working on this for over a year now and I am so drained.

While Mr. K holds responsibility for not filing, I feel that the employer should have some responsibility for not deducting income tax (which is illegal and there is a fine associated with it) but that DOESN'T HELP US!! Why would we file and give the government more money, it's so unfair why can't the fine be applied to our balance, even partially.

Just one of those days where I feel like we are never going to get out from this debt, discouraging as our lives are on hold for when we can afford a house etc. Nothing like being 29 and you can't start your life with your partner because of money... :o(
