We have been extremely diligent and cutting our expenses where we can. On Friday night one of Mr. K's roommates brought up the rent situation and there is going to be a change in how this is done, which will result in an increase in rent costs. I found it really discouraging after I have been whittling away at ever unnecessary penny we spend to get thrown a possible $150 extra per month.
Between the two of us $255 + $450-$550, it seems worthwhile to possibly consider getting our own place for just a tad more. It is rather an uncomfortable situation that we put up with as we would never pay $655 in rent on our own but with costs rising it makes it a lot more appealing. If we moved close to my work we would also see gas savings that would be offset by internet and increased groceries. We're going to see how the next couple of months go. We can't do anything until the Acura is gone, fingers crossed someone takes that off of our hands soon.
The issue here is to split the Hydro bill, once we saw it there are HUGE questions how do three people in an apartment incur $900 in two months?!? my parents paid $3000/annum when we lived in a house with baseboard heating and two air conditioners running non-stop in the summer. Plus my mom stays at home all day so tv, lights and heat /air are not turned off/down. This is ridiculous! My first thought is to get Hydro in to make sure it's only that apartment on the bill.
