Well, things are going particularly great for Mr K at work. As you know already he works seasonally, so he needs to work as much as possible in as little time as possible for us to get ahead and see the benefits.
We also have to factor in that based on the weather he may not be able to work if a job site is shut down from rain or being too wet.
In the past few weeks he has been sent home early on perfectly sunny days, his supervisor has booked some overtime on the weekends for himself at time and a half. hmmm?? I'm mighty pissed- yes you read that correctly, when you are limited with the time frame in which you can make money and this jerk can't find work to keep Mr K busy for two hours, over and over, this adds up and hurts what he brings home in a paycheck. Don't get me wrong we aren't in trouble but this is our chance to get ahead and it isn't happening.
To make matters worse the season in unusually slow and jobs are not made known which is making us worry if there is a 'next job' etc. Mr K approached me about talking to someone who had offered him a job in the spring whom he turned down as he had more opportunity to make money where he is now-- as that is not happening, he has gone back to see if there is a spot for him. I'm sad the potential for extra money will be gone but since it's not happening anyway... he would have a more stable schedule and be working closer to home. There is also the potential for work in the winter- snow plowing.
As he has already approached the other company, he is waiting to get the go ahead then he will approach his current boss with his issues and go from there.
I fully support whichever he chooses- he has also told me that he isn't happy where he is so if he isn't racking in the extra $$ or happy- where is the payoff??
At least if he can make what he is making now and be happier- I'd rather he do that.
