I can't believe that it's already the last day of 2008!
I have been off sick for the past two days and have now returned to work. As you can see not knowing where we stand or where we will be has definitely taken away the motivation to write on here.
Winter Tires
We decided to buy snow tires and I had them installed the other day, I'm grateful as we do live in an area where I think that they should be mandatory but our province hasn't gone there yet and has no plans to follow the Quebec legislation. As happy and relieved as I am to have them and know how much "safer" we will be along with increasing the longevity of both the winter and all-season tires the $1300 we parted with was extremely painful.
Cellular Phone
I finally made a difficult decision this week. We currently both have cell phones which I consider to be a luxury expense. I'm always trying to find ways to cut down on these expenses. We are currently with Rogers, which I have not been unhappy with their phone service but I have a few issues with them. I had a great plan at a great price a few years ago then I was sold on a family plan- which ended up costing us more money than two separate plans- the kicker-- I lost out on my old plan that had early evenings included at no extra fee, which they no longer offer. So we pay between $85-100/ month for cell phones!! This strikes me as ridiculous. Now, in our current situation: I stay at my fiancé's apartment for which there is no land line so any contact I have has to be via cell phone and same goes for fiancé. Now that we are getting married we will be moving in with my parents (Jan. 31)and we will be staying separately until married in March, and living with my parents until our house is ready (July. 27). This means I will have access to a phone at work and at home so my cellular use will be extremely limited. The only regular phone calls I get are from mom when at Mr. K's and from Mr. K when at my parents house. THE DECISION- I decided to take the whopping $400 hit to cancel with Rogers- my other beef- they extended my contract without notifying me- I made changes to my plan in an attempt to bring the monthly cost down but they failed to mention that they extended my contract until Nov. 2011 my contract should have been up last month. I did confirm that they have to tell you but me vs. big corporation is going nowhere so I'm stuck paying $400!!! But I picked up a 7-eleven Speak out wireless phone, December promo is free phone with $100 airtime and airtime does not expire for 1 year! So it will take me a year or so to recoup my $400 but eventually I will get it back. This is only for me, we have to decide if we're doing the same $400 deal for Mr. K! $800 is pretty hard to swallow right now.
Other than that things are good, we are anxiously awaiting news from our builder as we will be selecting exterior and interiors sometime in January
